Ask us your question

You are the operator of a PV-system? Do you know these problems too?

So far, there is no system for cleaning and removing snow and ice from solar panels. There is no such system that is constantly available on solar panels and can constantly keep them clean at all times.
Solar systems or their solar panels or solar modules are usually placed outdoors and thus exposed to a variety of weather or pollution. The efficiency of solar systems is reduced by dirt deposits, in particular permanently encrusted dirt, as well as snow or ice cover.
Dirt, eg dust or leaves or snow or ice, affect energy production,
There are no cost-effective cleaning methods yet, The cleaning of roof systems requires the use of labor.
The problems are as follows:
  • Dirt or leaves storage

In the case of dirt or leaves, solar radiation does not reach the surface of the solar collectors at all.

  • Snow or ice coating

In the case of snow or ice, solar radiation is already reflected on the surface. Thus, only part of the solar radiation reaches the surface of the solar collectors - and only this part is ready for energy conversion or energy transfer.

  • > 25% losses of the annual energy yield

Depending on the installation site of the plants, contamination by dirt or snow layers varies. If it is not possible to clean snow, ice or sticking dirt or leaves, annual energy yield losses of more than 25% are possible, especially during long periods of snow, and the profit for the ecological energy production and the supply of the respective house is lost. For rooftop installations in Germany alone, this means a loss of energy production of 2.48 GWp (Figure 3, Impact). This corresponds to the annual energy output of four medium-sized coal-fired power plants or 50,000 t / day of additional lignite burned.
